قام بالامس عدد من اطفال وشباب مركز الأطفال والفتوة بالمشاركة في يوم التضامن مع غزة من أجل رفع الحصار، والحرية والأستقلال ضمن الحملة الدولية – نسبح من غزة – حيث توجهوا من مخيم شاتيلا الى بحر بيروت، وسبحوا ورفعوا العلم الفلسطيني والأوراق المطالبة بالتضامن مع أطفال وشعب غزه الصامد في وجه الأحتلال الصهيوني، وادانو التواطؤ والصمت على الحصار وجرائم القتل ضد غزة وفلسطين عموما.
In 26 Aug. 2023, a number of children and youth of the Child and Youth Center participated in the international Solidarity campaign with Gaza in order to lift the siege, freedom and independence – We swim from Gaza – where they went from Shatila camp to the Beirut sea, swam and raised the Palestinian flag and slogans demanding solidarity with children and people Gaza steadfast in the face of the Zionist occupation, and condemned the complicity and silence on the blockade and murders against Gaza and Palestine in general.

Thank you so much for the wonderful photos of the commemoration of Sonia de Vries.

As her daughter (Naomi), it makes me so hugely happy to see that olive tree planting, all those loving people there acknowledging her love of the Palestinian people and their resistance to occupation and colonialism.

Thank you for making this happen. Our family all feel honoured by your honouring her.

My mother would have felt so loved and appreciated by these gestures, as she did when she was alive.

Of course, in our hearts she still lives!

بمبادرة من اصدقاء االراحلة سونيا دي فريس السيدة أني كنفاني، مؤسسة غسان كنفاني الثقافية ، د. روز ماري صايغ ومحمود عباس – ابو مجاهد مركز الأطفال والفتوة، تم احياء الذكرى السنوية الثانية لغياب السيدة صونيا دي فريس، في 4 /7/ 2023 بحضور العديد من اًصدقائها ومن المؤسسات الأجتماعية، حيث تم زرع شجرة زيتون تحمل اسمها تخليدا لذكراها في حديقة مركز الأطفال والفتوة في مخيم شاتيلا.

وقد اجمعت الكلمات من المنظمين والأصدقاء على الدور التضامني مع الشعب الفلسطيني وقضيته الوطنية، وعلى دورها الأممي التضامني مع نضالات الشعوب، وتقديم ما تستطيعه من دعم مادي ومعنوي، وتحفيز الروح النضالية ضد الظلم والاستعمار، في سبيل احلال الحق والعدالة والسلام والمستقبل الأفضل للآطفال شعوب المستقبل.

By the initiative of the friends of the late Sonia de Vries, Mrs. Anni Kanafani, Ghassan Kanafani Cultural Foundation, D. Rose Marie Sayegh, and Mahmoud Abbas – Abu Moujahed, Child & Youth Centre-CYC, The second anniversary of the absence of Mrs. Sonia de Vries was commemorated, on 4/7/2023 in the presence of many of her friends, social workers, and NGO’s, where an olive tree with her name was planted in her memory in the yard of CYC in Shatila camp.

The words of the organizers and friends were unanimous on her role in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their national cause, and her international role in solidarity with the struggles of peoples, and her providing what she can of material and moral support, and to stimulate the spirit of struggle against injustice and colonialism, in order to establish truth, justice, peace and a better future for the children – the people of the future.
